Thurloxton Farm – Taunton

A brilliant traditional pick-your-own farm. Visitors can pick seasonal strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, currants and other fruit straight from the fields, making it especially good for a summer family trip.

Sheppy's Cider Farm – near Wellington

One of Somerset's most famous cider destinations, with more than 200 years of family cider-making history. Its 90-acre site combines orchards, cider production, walking trails, a farm shop, deli, restaurant and bar.

Rich's Cider Farm – Highbridge

A great all-round cider-farm experience. Rich's has produced traditional Somerset cider for more than 60 years and visitors can explore its cider museum, visit the farm shop and restaurant, and even see cider being pressed during the autumn.

Thatchers Cider – Sandford

One of the biggest names in Somerset cider and a particularly good place to learn how it's made. Myrtle Farm offers a cider shop, The Railway Inn and guided tours of the working mill, followed by cider tasting.

Quince Honey Farm – South Molton

This is actually in Devon, and it's primarily a honey and bee attraction rather than a fruit farm. It's still an excellent rural day out, particularly for families, with gardens, play areas, a shop and opportunities to learn about bees and honey.

The Newt in Somerset – near Castle Cary

A much more luxurious take on Somerset's apple and cider heritage. Its orchards contain around 70 varieties of apple, while its impressive Cyder Cellar produces 100% apple-juice cyders using slow cold fermentation. Daily tasting tours are available.

Warrens Fruit Farm – Cheddar

A lovely traditional fruit farm near Cheddar that's ideal for anyone wanting locally grown produce and a more authentic Somerset farm experience

Frieze Hill Community Orchard – Taunton

A lovely community-run orchard established in 2003. Volunteers have planted more than 100 trees, along with diverse hedges, creating an attractive green space that also celebrates Somerset's traditional orchard heritage.

Bennetts Farmhouse Cider – Highbridge

One for people looking for proper traditional farmhouse cider. Established in 1850, Bennett's uses cider apples from its own orchards and matures its cider for at least 12 months in oak whisky barrels.

Iford Cider & Taphouse – Bradford-on-Avon

A more contemporary cider destination where you can enjoy locally produced cider at the taphouse. It's a particularly good choice if you want the social side of cider rather than simply visiting an orchard.

North Perrott Fruit Farm Shop – Crewkerne

A great Somerset fruit-growing attraction where visitors can pick their own apples and other seasonal produce. The farm grows around 17 varieties of apple, including eating, cooking, juicing and cider varieties. It also offers pears, sweetcorn and pumpkins depending on the season.
